Are you looking for an outdoor adventure in Canada? The vast outdoor beauty of Canada is truly unmatched. It’s such a short plane ride from the States, but it wasn’t until recently that I started visiting Canada. It’s a gem that many do not take the advantage of visiting. As the second-largest country in the world, Canada is home to many breathtaking landscapes. Canada has no shortage of places to visit. Today, I’m highlighting four of the most popular outdoor spots in Canada.
1. Vancouver
Whether you want to ski, cycle, hike, or just lounge on the beach, Vancouver is the place to be. Located in British Columbia, this coastal seaport city offers endless opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Among these attractions are the following:
- Sea to Sky Gondola: This destination is a marvelous location to get a bird’s-eye view of the scenic alpine surroundings. The glass ceiling and floor of the 8-person gondola lets you soar 2,900 feet above sea level.
- Stanley Park: This world-renowned tourist attraction is not only the first, but it is also the largest park in Vancouver. This nearly 1,000-acre West Coast rainforest has amazing views of mountains, water, and majestic trees.
- Locarno and Jericho Beaches: Located in close proximity on Vancouver’s English Bay, Locarno and Jericho beaches offer a contrast from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The sandy shorelines and picnic-ready grassy areas on these beaches are complete with lifeguards and change rooms.
2. Banff National Park
Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park. Catch an awe-inspiring view of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, located just 80 miles west of Calgary. Banff National Park is open all year round!
3. Niagara Falls
A collection of three waterfalls, Niagara Falls, draws tourists from far and wide. Straddling the borders of Ontario, Canada, and New York state, Niagara Falls is collective consisting of Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and American Falls. Open throughout all seasons, Niagara Falls Canada has a host of attractions, events, and rides.
4. Valley of 1,000 Devils
Located in Saskatchewan, the Valley of 1,000 Devils offers a one-of-a-kind adventure. This 160-foot valley is complete with hiking and camping opportunities, and the chance to witness the remnants of dinosaur fossils. Along with a glimpse of the prehistoric past, there is much wildlife—from deer to reptiles—to see in their natural habitat. Complete with red-clay hoodoos, indigenous burial grounds, and teepee rings, this valley is surely a site to explore when you are in Canada.
With so much to see and do in Canada, this list is just the tip of the iceberg. One of the things that best characterizes Canada is the fact that it is largely composed of wilderness. Whether you wish to go hiking, skiing, swimming, cycling, or just take in the sheer beauty of the landscape, the wonders of this beautiful country await.
