Dublin’s Most Instagrammable Spots

Before I take a vacation, I always do my research to find the best, photogenic spots! I’ve searched hashtags and geotags on Instagram but always have the most success turning to Pinterest. It’s so simple to search “best instagram spots in (location)” and suddenly you have your whole day planned. Today, I’m giving you a list of the prettiest, most aesthetic, blog worthy locations you’ll need to know in order to snap the perfect pic in Dublin. Get ready to make your Instagram followers envious of your adventure!

Temple Bar

This infamous bar is the perfect place to take your vacation selfie. Adding your location on social media won’t be necessary as everyone will easily recognize this bar’s red exterior and gold writing. Stand in the cobblestone street to capture the entire pub and its charming string lights. Plus the surrounding Temple Bar District has some of the best food!

Brick Alley Cafe

Grab a window seat at this coffee shop and watch the tourists stumble out of Temple Bar. This restaurant has the BEST hot chocolate found in Ireland (highly recommend the dark chocolate). This location is a great spot to capture your drink with dozens of Dublin’s pubs in the background.

Saint Stephen’s Green

This park is filled with green lawns, flowers, ponds, and friendly animals. It is the perfect escape away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin. Not to mention, it has one of the world’s only Garden for the Blind complete with signs in Braille and the most aroma-pleasing flowers. Pack some snacks and a bottle of wine for a fun, photo worthy picnic.

Umbrella Alley

This colorful umbrella filled alley can be found down a dead end street. Find it easily by navigating to Zozimus Bar and you will find them. This unique street will add the perfect pop of color to your Instagram feed.

Sophie’s Rooftop (at the Dean hotel)

This rooftop restaurant was a party when we went! The panoramic views of the city were breathtaking and the cocktails were pretty and delicious! Snap a picture on the swings before going in and don’t miss the “I Fell in Love Here” LED sign in the hotel lobby. You don’t want to miss this one!

“Downtown” Dublin

Walking the streets outside Stephen’s Green, you will walk by dozens of homes and businesses with rainbow colored doorways. The hanging flowers and painted doors are incredibly photogenic for an artsy instagram post.

Guinness Storehouse

We actually didn’t stop here because, well, I honestly prefer tequila over beer and didn’t think spending money on this excursion would be worth it. However, this brewery is a tourist favorite and the Gravity Bar offers 360 degree views of Dublin!

Trinity College

Home to the Book of Kells and Trinity Library, this location is a tourist hot spot. However, you don’t need to pay admission into the library to get beautiful photos outside the college. Lounge in the green grasses surrounding the university and pose in front of the stunning flowers. The architecture of the buildings are absolutely beautiful. It would be difficult to take a bad picture here.

Dublin Castle

Perhaps my favorite photos came from exploring this historical castle by foot (the castle spans 11 acres). Although this castle was pretty, we enjoyed snapping photos on the other side which was colorful and reminded us of a small section of the Pena Palace in Portugal.

Ha’Penny Bridge

At the Dublin Castle, we met a retired Irish guide who told us about the history of this pedestrian bridge. He shared that, for decades, a person had to pay a fee to cross the bridge. This fee was a penny-ha’penny (1 ½ pence) hence the name “Ha’Penny Bridge.” This bridge connects Dublin and crosses the River Liffey. Stand on either side for a beautiful sunset picture or midday photo of the iron bridge and sparkling water.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral & Christ Church Cathedral

These cathedrals are beautiful and the architecture is incredible. The gray stone walls and bell towers will have the comments rolling in.

What nobody told us before going to Dublin is that the city is actually pretty small. It is walkable and you can hit up all these locations easily in 1-2 days. Walk around Dublin and you will find beautiful photo opportunities without even trying. Do you have any other places to add to the list? Let me know in the comments below! And don’t forget to check back soon as I am working on a Dublin itinerary to share with you all!
