Paris is known for the City of Love, and from the moment you step off the plane, train, bus, or whatever mode of transportation used to get there, you instantly know why. The streets are bustling with well-dressed Parisians, the Eiffel Tower glitters throughout the nighttime, and the French language in itself is so romantic and poetic sounding. I absolutely adored Paris and its no longer a secret why this destination is one of the most visited in the world!
WHERE TO STAY:
- Ibis budget Paris Porte de Pantin – An inexpensive option that is close to a Metro stop that takes you into the heart of the city. It was very clean, safe, and the staff were super friendly!
WHERE TO EAT:
- Laduree for world famous macaroons (Chuck Bass did buy them for Blair Waldorf after all).
- The Kiosk Food Stand in the Trocadero Gardens. These food stands have the most delicious savory and sweet crepes, coffee, and paninis!
- Hop into any local bakery/patisserie and pick up a baguette or croissant! Bread is so flakey and delicious in Paris, and you can’t really go wrong wherever you choose to indulge in it!
WHAT TO DO:
- Visit the Trocadero Gardens for one of the best panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower. If you visit in the evening, you will be able to watch the Tower come to life and sparkle for 5 minutes. This takes place every hour on the hour
- Watch the sky change colors over the Arc de Triomphe, one of Paris’ most monumental arches.
- Attend a live mass in French at the Sacré-Cœur, a Roman Catholic church located high above the city.
- Take in the views of the Notre Dame as it gets rebuilt. Fortunately, I was able to see this breathtaking cathedral before the devastating fire in April 2019. This structure has a long way to go but you should still make an attempt to walk past it during your visit. It is closed to visitors until further notice.
- Walk along the Siene during sunrise and take in some fresh air!
- Take a photo of you touching the top of the Lourve from a distance. If you have the opportunity to walk inside and see the Mona Lisa in person, do it! Be sure to buy tickets in advance so you don’t have to wait in a long line.
