Random Acts of Kindness You Can Try Today

Ever since I can remember, I have always been a huge advocate of performing random acts of kindness! In fact, one year I made it my New Years resolution to pay it forward with one stranger each month. A lot of people behind me got free Starbucks that year and nothing made me happier!

As my 26th birthday started to approach, I knew I wanted this year to be different. I’d seen friends of mine ask for donations to their favorite organizations on Facebook, which was great, but I wanted to do something that felt more personal. My twin and I created a list of “26 Random Acts of Kindness” to complete in order to celebrate.

Then COVID-19 hit and several items were no longer viable. Personal space was something we had to take into consideration but the goal remained the same: make as many people as possible smile. Ordinary grocery trips to Target became a mission to spread positivity by leaving money in the dollar section or post-its on the bathroom mirrors. We used this time of uncertainty to get to know our neighbors better and to support locally.

While social distancing can definitely put a damper on the birthday celebrations, it also can give you the opportunity to stand up and be there for others when they need it most. I like to believe small gestures can really make a big impact. I am challenging all of you reading this post to pick at least one act of kindness to safely try out! I promise all of them include minimal touching and most don’t even require donating money.

Download and print the PDF above.

Have fun with it and please let me know in the comments below if you try out any of them! And, as always, tag me on Instagram so I can see! Allie and I successfully completed 23 out of the 26 by our birthday and are still working on the other three. How many can you check off?

Thank you! It was my sister’s idea. We had the best time running around making people’s day! Hope you are staying healthy and safe, Caitlin!
