26 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Me

Unless you are visiting my “About Me” section, rarely do I share too much about myself, besides my love for travel of course! Therefore, in honor of my 26th birthday I decided why not share 26 facts you probably didn’t know about me. I was inspired by Vogue’s 73 questions, but wanted to spare you all the long blog post! So here we go, let’s jump on in!

1. My absolute favorite time of the day is either 5am when the sun is just starting to rise and I can be alone with my thoughts or after dinner when the sun is going down and I’m filled with productivity. I know, polar opposites.

2. I am one state away from visiting all 50 US States (I was so close before COVID-19!) and would love to visit 30 countries by the time I am 30.

3. I feel most inspired watching people go after their dreams. When they start a company, accomplish a goal, or end an unhealthy relationship, I clap from the sidelines. I especially love watching my fellow sisters become a boss in their life and take charge. Also, listening to podcasts and reading self-help books inspire me on the daily!

4. I drink my coffee two ways: either hot with peppermint syrup and almond milk or iced with vanilla syrup and almond milk.

5. Words of affirmation is my love language and the best compliments I’ve ever received revolved around my character. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t be mad if you say my hair looks good but if you tell me my positivity impacted you or that I am easy to talk to, I will 100% become emotional.

6. When I have my own home one day, I dream of having a reading nook in a corner of my house surrounded my books – almost like a built in library. I feel happiest when surrounded by books.

My dream bookshelf – in case anyone wants to build me one 🙂

7. I don’t really have plans to stay in one place for a long time. I’ve lived in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri for a bit, and now Arizona but I’m constantly seeking out where I’ll go next. (Open to suggestions in the comments!)

8. When I was growing up I fully believed I was going to become a talk show host or movie director. My poor friends were forced into making movies with me every time they came over.

9. I am deathly afraid of needles but would like to get an airplane tattoo on my body someday to commiserate my love for travel.

Temporary tattoos to see how I felt about the placement. I loved it!

10. If I’m not listening to a podcast, you better believe I have Lennon Stella, Chelsea Cutler, Bazzi or Lauv playing through my headphones.

11. Throughout my school years, my favorite class was always English. My language arts/publications teachers shaped me into the woman I am today and I’m forever grateful for each one of them! I’m also a super big grammar/punctation snob. Sorry, not sorry!

12. I truly believe the cutest thing on this earth is my nephew Henry, my niece Hudsyn and pugs. Gotta love a good, chubby, tan pug.

13. I have a freakishly good memory – especially when it comes to numbers. I can recite my credit card number, childhood best friend’s home phone numbers, social security, etc. by heart.

14. If I choose to date in the future, I would love to meet someone organically at a library, bookstore, coffee shop or at church. I really don’t think I will ever be able to do all these dating apps.

15. Unpopular opinion – TikTok makes me insanely uncomfortable. You will never find me on that app dancing. I promise you that.

16. Flowers, a cup of coffee, a boarding pass, and a random act of kindness are a few of the simpler things in life that instantly brighten my mood.

17. Kay is a family name that has been passed down for generations. My twin sister was born first so she snagged the middle name, but I became Kaylie after conjoining Kay and “Lee” (another family name).

18. If I could raid one woman’s closet for the day it would be Kristin Cavallari. She is so freaking stylish.

19. My dad and I are very very close. He is my best friend, my favorite comedian, my biggest cheerleader and support system. When I was 10, we agreed to go on a father/daughter trip to Africa once he retired. He retires in June so hopefully a safari trip will get planned ASAP.

The cutest human alive – my dad!

20. My favorite instagram accounts to follow are those who share raw, vulnerable, and uplifting posts. It takes so much courage to be 100% yourself online. I highly recommend checking out: @thebirdspapaya @rainbowsalt and @kahleanicole for some inspo!

21. My worst habit is biting my nails and forgetting to text people back. Whoops!

22. Three things on the top of my bucket list are: to volunteer at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand or Bali, stay in a bubble room to watch the Northern Lights, and swim with whale sharks in Indonesia.

23. The best advice I’ve ever received is that life is too short and tomorrow is not promised. Just go for it!

24. Without fail, these four things will always make me cry: A Star Is Born, Breakthrough (the movie), worship music and Nicholas Sparks. Every. Single. Time.

25. A super important cause to me is poverty and homelessness. If I could donate all my time in food banks, I absolutely would.

26. I started my first job at 12 years old and have had a strong work ethic since! (Any other Midwesterners detassel too?) I’m constantly striving to find the perfect job/fit for me, but have loved dipping my toes into my various interests along the way.

There you have it – 26 random facts about me! Have a question on something I brought up or want to know more about me? I try to do Q&As on my Instagram stories from time to time, so feel free to follow along. Otherwise drop your questions/comments below and I’ll get back to them! Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Stay healthy and safe out there!
