Traveling with your romantic partner is fun and all, but the trips I always look back on most fondly are the ones taken with my best friend. Finding a compatible travel buddy is no easy feat. You have to make sure your travel styles align; you both are able to check off things you want to do, and don’t even get me started on choosing a place to go! I know planning can be stressful with so many places to visit and so many countries to see. So, save that part for me! If you’re ready to get out and start exploring, I’m highlighting eight locations that are perfectly suited for an upcoming trip with your bestie below! Maybe save the city of love (Paris) for your significant other!
Cappadocia, Turkey
I cannot recommend enough taking a girls getaway to Cappadocia! The dreamy location doesn’t get enough attention! Each morning hot air balloons light up the sky. Whether you are an early riser or not, this is a sight you do not want to miss! You and your BFF can listen to the call to prayer each morning, go for a balloon ride, shop for rugs, and meet some of the kindest people out there. My best friend and I felt extremely safe staying here and had the best time exploring the mountains and the open air museum in Goreme.
Santorini, Greece
While Greece is often recommended for lovers, taking a trip to the islands with your best friend is even better! Santorini is a small enough island that you can get from one point to the other in a travel day. I highly recommend putting on a bikini and exploring the red, white, and black beaches! We also took advantage of a catamaran tour – bottomless food and drinks… count us in! Greece is one of the cheaper places in Europe so if you and your friend are on a budget, look no further!
Amsterdam, Netherlands
If “party girl” is you or your BFF’s nickname then you two will absolutely adore Amsterdam. Get into trouble while exploring the Red Light District and partake in a coffee or something stronger at the coffeeshops. Amsterdam is a super walkable city and their public transportation can’t be beat. Staying the night in a houseboat is an absolute must! Exploring the different museums and taking in history will make for some excellent memories that you two can reminisce on years down the road. Check out our itinerary here!
London, UK
Not super comfortable with traveling? If you or your friend is a beginner, then London may be just the trip for you. There are absolutely no language barriers, the cocktail bars are the BEST, and there are so many fun attractions to see. I recommend checking out Notting Hill, different coffee shops, the palaces, and of course brushing up on the Royals! This trip is just across the pond, yet it feels so different from the US. I promise you both will fall in love with it instantly. And don’t get me started on the boys…
Toronto, Canada
There is no wrong time to explore Toronto. It is a fun, busy city no matter what time of year you choose to go. If you and your friend are into art, then you have to check out Toronto. The city life, restaurants, club scene, and friendly people will make you want to come back over and over again. Just north of the states, it feels very US-like. If you or your gal pal enjoy New York and the city scene then you two will adore Toronto! Just travel a bit further north and don’t forget your passport!
Florence, Italy
Calling all my wine-lovers! A girls trip to Napa is wonderful but I think you should go big or go home! Florence is the best of both worlds. Italy appears to be the wine capital of the world. Grab your lady friends and jet off to Florence. You can partake in a wine tour in the countryside, check out the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and walk around this artsy city. Florence is one of my favorite places in the entire world and I know you and your better half will love all it has to offer.
Banff, Canada
Lake Louise, Lake Moraine, and the Fairmont Chateau are only a few reasons to take a visit to Banff as a dynamic duo. If you visit in the winter time, you will set your eyes on the prettiest snowfall you’ve ever seen. In the summer, you can take a canoe out in the middle of the crystal clear blue waters. Banff is one of the prettiest parts of Canada, in my opinion, and sharing the experience with your best friend is unlike any other. If you are a lover of hikes and nature, Banff is a must for your next trip!
Lisbon, Portugal
Just two hours north of the Algarve coast, Lisbon is perfect for any friendships who love to explore. Walking around the city, stopping by the LX Factory, and indulging in delicious food makes the trip well worth it. Not to mention, Pena Palace is a days trip away! The palace is a perfect place to get a great instagram shot to post for your friend’s birthday. Lisbon is such a fun city with affordable transportation. If you want to hit up the beach afterwards, rent a car and take off for Lagos. It’s another dream come true place!
